Study Abroad
Costa Rica
This program combines classroom activities on the ASU campus with an intensive 13 day field course in Costa Rica. The geography course focuses on mountain geography (weather and climate, water resources, and natural hazards) while the biology course focuses on tropical ecology (island biogeography, theories explaining tropical biodiversity, and botanical history). Both courses are available for undergraduate and graduate credit. Classes will meet on campus throughout the month of November 2009, while the field portion of the classes will take place from December 30, 2009 through January 10, 2010.

Peru - Andean Mountain Geography

Ecuador
(GHY 3140) and Glaciers, Climate, and Water Resources (GHY 3530) through direct field experience, readings, discussions, and meetings with guest speakers. Field excursions to major glacierized peaks of the region provide an outstanding setting for the study of Andean mountain geography, while high mountain excursions to Cayambe and Cotopaxi Glaciers allow students to study the influence of climate on glacial mass balance and water resources. Courses also available at the graduate level.
