Equipment and Software

Equipment Check-Out

Available equipment includes a laptop, projector, two digital cameras, several handheld Garmin GPS units, and one Trimble GPS unit for faculty and student research.

The equipment is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Reservations can be made up to 3 weeks in advance from the desired check-out date.

The maximum check-out period is 72 hours (3 days). Check-out for a longer period of time must have prior, written approval from the Department Chair.

Complete the appropriate form and email it to the GIS Lab Supervisor. Forms require Adobe Acrobat.

Software Installation

ArcGIS

ArcGIS is available for student use. Students will need to purchase a USB license key from Educational Media Services, and then bring their USB license key and computer to the Computer Support Center.

ERDAS

ERDAS offers a discounted software bundle for students. The software includes a one-year license for the price of $250.00. To receive the student bundle, please send a letter from a current professor, on school letterhead, that states you are a student in good standing and need the software for your studies.
