Lloyd Edwards A.A.S. Civil Engineering Wake Technical College 1979, B.S. Geography concentration in Earth Science and GIS/Cartography 2007. Research Interests:GIS,Remote Sensing, Physical Geography, Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Earth Systems Modeling, Strategic Conservation and Educational Outreach. Specific areas of research interests are applications of remote sensing and geographic information systems technology for land cover characterization. Specific areas of research interest include eco-regional land use/land cover (LULC) mapping in support of environmental and hydrological modeling. Personal Interests: Professional musician, NC bluebird society county coordinator, farm, nature, sports, working with community to integrate economic development and sustainable ecology.

Lisa Redman B.S., Community and Regional Planning, Appalachian State University, 2007. Research Interests: Sustainable community planning, environmental conservation, hydrology and erosion, and GIS in relation to sustainable development in developing nations. Personal Interests: Hanging with my family, my husband Will, is the breakfast chef at the Inn at Ragged Gardens;my 6 yr old son, Landrum, future pro skateboarder; and 2 yr old son, Aydan, future engineer. I enjoy hanging with my friends, reading, music, dancing, playing the African drum and mandolin, organic gardening, canoeing, mountain biking, soccer, hiking, camping, traveling, and being outdoors.

Research Interests: Sustainable Community Planning and Sustainable Development. Personal Interests: Raising my twins, traveling, scuba diving, live music, and staying home.

Stephanie Smith B.S., Geography, Appalachian State University, 2007 Research Interests: Include small agricultural practices of the Southern Appalachians, bio diversity and ecological studies, environmental and conservation management, and cartographic design. Stephanie is also very interested in the regional cultures of Southern Appalachians and how they are tied to the land.

 

   

James Waynick B.S., Community and Regional Planning & Geography with concentration in GIS, Appalachian State University 2006 Research Interests: Integration of City Planning and GIS, Physical Geography, uses of GIS in viticulture and precision agriculture, and land conservation. Personal Interests: Enjoying the outdoors, snow boarding, hiking, ASU football, spending time with friends and family, my saltwater and freshwater aquariums, and NC grape growing and wine production.
