Garland P. Stout Annual Scholarship for Geography
The Department of Geography and Planning is seeking applicants for the Garland P. Stout Annual Scholarship for Geography for the 2009-2010 academic year. The Department will award one scholarship in the amount of $100-$250 to a student who meets the eligibility requirements:
- The scholarship is open to both undergraduate and graduate students.
- Student is majoring in geography or planning
- Student has a demonstrated desire to preserve North Carolina’s history using the tools of geography
Students meeting the requirements for the scholarship are invited to apply by submitting a one page letter of application. The letter should describe the student’s interest in the scholarship, the student’s academic plans for next year, and a description of how the student has used geographic tools to study an aspect of North Carolina history. Submit your letter of application to Dr. Schroeder by 12:00 noon on Friday, February 27. The Department Awards and Honors Committee will review the applications for the Garland P. Stout Scholarship and recommend a recipient to the Chair of the Department; the decision of the Committee and Chair will be final.
