SCHOLARSHIPS
The Department of Geography and Planning offers a number of scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students in the department. Each of these scholarships were created to honor the contributions of former faculty members and alumni by providing support for the academic efforts of geography and planning students at Appalachian State University. The requirements for the scholarships vary, but typically include : full-time enrollment in a geography or planning degree program, junior or senior status, and a 2.5 GPA. Many of the scholarships also consider financial need of the student. The amounts of the scholarships varies from year to year, but typically range between $300 and $500. Students are invited to apply for the scholarships in January or February, with scholarships awarded for the following academic year. Graduate Fellowship Awarded
Stephen Vacendak Graduate Fellowship in Geography
The Department of Geography and Planning is honored to offer the Stephen Vacendak Graduate Fellowship in Geography. The Fellowship is named for a former student, Stephen Vacendak (B.S.1996). Full time graduate students in geography at Appalachian State University are eligible for the Fellowships. Recipients of the award are eligible for up to two years of funding. Applicants to the graduate program in Geography are automatically considered for this award. |
