The Stephen Vacendak Geography & Planning Conference and Golf Tournament
Dates for 2010 to be determined...

The Stephen Vacendak Golf Tournament has been a huge success for the Department of Geography and Planning and its graduate students. Prior to the recent decline of the stock market, the endowment had grown to well over $200,000 and a total of 22 Vacendak fellowships have been granted for amounts ranging from $500 to $1200.
In consultation with Steve Vacendak, Sr., our advisory board, and our ASU development officer, we have decided to make some fundamental changes in the tournament this year. We will now start with a geographic/geospatial/planning academic conference and networking weekend on October 2-4. The event will be held at the Broyhill Inn here on campus. The conference will be separate from the golf tournament, so you don’t need to be a golfer to participate.
We see this as a great opportunity to get together with your former classmates on an early fall weekend in Boone to hear about new developments in geography, GIS, and planning and to network in ways that can significantly enhance your career. The conference is open to all. It should be great opportunity for you to network with a lot of people who have jobs and may have jobs to offer. We hope that you will be able to join us for what promises to be a wonderful event. Please send any suggestions that you have for additional roundtable discussions to Mike Mayfield.
