RESEARCH

Dr. Gabrielle Katz conducts ongoing research on the relationship between riparian vegetation characteristics (e.g., species composition, vegetation structure) and hydrologic conditions (e.g., groundwater levels, streamflow) on the San Pedro River in southeastern Arizona. The goal of this project is to elucidate basic biohydrology relationships in this desert riparian system, and to apply this understanding to riparian ecosystem restoration. She collects field data at two riparian restoration properties operated by The Nature Conservancy, and at reference sites throughout the lower San Pedro River basin. More information on Dr. Katz's research is available on her faculty webpage.
